Reviews: American Horror Story and The Walking Dead

A brief review of the premiers

By Lady Lillith

The month of October has brought us back some greatly anticipated shows everyone has been head-over heels for; American Horror Story: Freak Show and The Walking Dead. Seeing the premiers of each show has made my heart leap and tumble all over.

First up: AHS: Freak Show
The premier of AHS: Freak Show brought in unbelievable ratings of 10 million viewers! And with those views, the network FX has, not surprisingly, announced that they are picking up season five for another 13-episode run. Huzzah!

Now Freak Show has only brought us one episode so far but many, myself included, can clearly see that this season looks like it is going to bring us more horror than ever before. For starters, the opening credits roll through a circus theme, showing antique dolls and creepy clowns lurking about. Off that alone I started to get the heebie jeebies.

Throughout this first episode we were introduced to new characters and familiar faces, along with faces we didn't recognize. I greatly enjoyed seeing that Ryan Murphy brought in people with unique abilities and features that are the real deal outside of the acting world. I absolutely love seeing the world’s smallest woman, Jyoti Amge, having a role in this series.

From a psychotic clown who likes kidnapping, to a family of freaks who just want to be "normal," and plenty of grisly murders, it looks like this season is going to bring us things from our nightmares. And by nightmares, I mean a circus…a creepy, creepy circus. Stayed tuned every Wednesday night at 10 PST for more episodes of American Horror Story: Freak Show

                                                                                         The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead is back and everyone is rejoicing!
Shattering cable records of 17.3 million views (holy cow!), The Walking Dead is back and already kicking ass. The series premier starts us off with some nail biting scenes and a thought of OMG ARE THEY REALLY GOING TO KILL OFF A MAIN CHARACTER ALREADY?! (They don’t.  Hush now...it’s ok...they just like to torment us).

This episode picks up right where they left off in season 4 and it jumps right into the action. We find out more about what happened at Terminus before it all went to hell and we see our favorite bunch do what they do best, survive. There were some touching moments within all the killing and one of those moments I started to tear up. Damn you Walking Dead and making me feel all the feels! I don’t want to spoil too much of the premier but let me just say that this happy moment has to do with Daryll and if Daryll starts to cry…I cry. For those you have tuned into this episode, it’s ok now, I won’t tell if you won’t tell. *wipes away tears*

This season of TWD shows that we are going to have another fun ride ahead of us. More walkers, more human assholes, and a quest to just stay alive. Now if you stayed till after the credits, there was a secret scene where a certain someone shows his face once again and oh man, I can NOT wait to see how this is going to turn out! Stayed tuned every Sunday night at 6 PST for more episodes of The Walking Dead.

Bye bloody bye!
